4-point fabric inspection software for mills and exporters

Fabric inspection app features: 4-point logging, roll maps, buyer reports and mill claims

Fabric Inspection Software is a fabric inspection app with everything a serious fabric quality control tool must have (roll registration, ASTM D5430 4-point logging, live pass/fail, photos, lot reports, CSV/Excel export) plus five things that make Indian mills and exporters choose it over paper, Excel and brand-priced platforms.

In short: Fabric Inspection Software includes roll registration with QR labels, 1–4 point defect logging with the ASTM D5430 cap of 4 points per linear yard, live pass/fail per buyer, a photo per defect, a visual roll map, a buyer standards library, auto-drafted debit notes to mills, shade, GSM and shrinkage records, and offline tap logging in Chrome on Android. Voice logging uses the browser's speech recognition, so Tamil and Hindi depend on the device.

Standout 1

Visual roll map

Every defect is plotted along the roll length (0–120 yd), coloured by points. The map goes into the buyer report and onto the cutting table.

Why it wins: Cutters avoid bad zones and buyers trust what they can see. Vision machines produce maps; paper sheets do not, and we did not find roll maps in the generic forms apps we reviewed.

  • Defects plotted by yard position and point value
  • The roll QR label opens the record and its map at the cutting table
  • Embedded in every buyer report and lot summary

Standout 2

Voice logging in Tamil, Hindi and English

The inspector keeps both hands on the fabric and says "slub, moonu point, eighty-six". Fabric Inspection Software logs Slub · 3 pts · 86 yd and shows it on the confirmation bar. Voice uses the tablet browser's speech recognition (Chrome on Android), so Tamil and Hindi availability and accuracy depend on the device, and recognition usually needs a network connection.

Why it wins: Faster inspection and fewer missed entries where the device recognises the inspector's language. Where it does not, the tap buttons and a typed phrase box do the same job.

  • Number and point words parsed in Tamil, Hindi and English, in script or transliterated
  • Confirmation bar shows what was logged; say "undo" to reverse
  • Glove-sized buttons and a typed phrase box always work

Standout 3

Buyer standards library

Each buyer's limits (for example ≤ 28 points for one, ≤ 40 for another), hole rule and report options are stored once. Pick the buyer at intake and pass/fail plus the report follow automatically.

Why it wins: No more manual checking against buyer manuals. Brand-side tools are usually set up around one brand's standard; a mill or exporter may ship to twenty buyers.

  • Per-buyer point limit, unit (sq yd or sq m), hole rule, running-defect and hole-count limits
  • Per-buyer report options: logo, photos, roll map; fully custom templates on request
  • Lot average and roll limit judged separately

Standout 4

Auto debit note to the mill

Failed rolls automatically generate a claim or debit note to the supplying mill with the roll map, photos, points and invoice reference as proof.

Why it wins: Recovers money that today is quietly written off because nobody has the evidence or the time to raise a claim.

  • Draft created the moment a roll with a supplier mill fails
  • Add the deduction value and share the mill-facing evidence link (email or WhatsApp sending once your messaging channel is connected)
  • Claim register with status: draft, sent, accepted, disputed, settled

Standout 5

Offline-first on budget Android

Defect taps, undo and "finish roll" keep working with no network: they queue on the device and sync later. Open each roll once while online so the screen is cached; photos wait for the network, and voice recognition usually needs one. Runs on ₹10–12k tablets with glove-sized targets.

Why it wins: Fits real factory floors and budgets. Many enterprise QC tools assume iPads and steady Wi-Fi; a typical Tirupur dyeing unit has neither.

  • Offline queue count always visible in the header
  • Chrome on Android 9+ tablets and phones; add to home screen, no Play Store app
  • Large targets and high-contrast dark UI for tube lights

Everything a serious fabric inspection app needs

The baseline, done properly. Every plan includes these.

Roll registration

PO, lot, shade, supplier mill, length, width and GSM per roll, typed once or created through the API; the roll's QR label reopens it.

4-point defect logging

1, 2, 3 or 4 points per defect with type and yard position, capped at 4 points per linear yard as ASTM D5430 requires.

Auto points per 100 sq yd and pass/fail

Live total, points per 100 sq yd and sq m, and the verdict against the selected buyer limit.

Photo per defect

Tap the camera after any entry; photos attach to the defect and appear in the report and claim.

Shade band, shrinkage and GSM tests

Record shade grouping, wash shrinkage and GSM per roll or lot alongside the 4-point result.

Roll QR labels

Print a QR label with roll ID and result through the tablet's print dialog, to any printer Android can reach, including label printers that offer an Android print service.

Lot and PO summary reports

Print-ready report (save as PDF) per roll, per lot and per PO with averages, first/second quality split and signature lines.

Inspector login and role control

Inspector, QC head and merchandiser roles; inspector profiles with PINs (on-screen PIN switching for shared tablets is planned).

Defect master

Holes, slubs, stains, barre, needle lines, lycra out, oil marks and your own additions, with Tamil and Hindi labels.

Export to Excel and ERP

One-click CSV of rolls (opens in Excel, fixed columns) and a REST API for rolls, lots and buyers. Busy or Tally take the CSV through their own import; there is no direct connector.

Android tablets and phones

Chrome on Android 9 and above, any screen size; works on ₹10–12k tablets with a rugged case.

Dashboard for merchandisers

Lot status, mill-wise failure rate, pending claims and rolls per inspector, from any browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own defect names and buyer formats?

Yes. The defect master in Fabric Inspection Software is fully editable with Tamil and Hindi labels, and each buyer's report options (logo, photos, roll map), unit and point limit live in the buyer library. Fully custom report layouts are set up on request.

Does Fabric Inspection Software replace a vision inspection machine?

No. Vision systems such as Uster Fabriq Vision or Smartex automate detection on the machine and cost lakhs per frame. Fabric Inspection Software does not detect defects from camera images; it makes human inspection fast, consistent and documented on a ₹10,000 tablet, and suits units that inspect on standard frames or tables.

Does the fabric inspection app apply the 4-points-per-yard cap?

Yes. Fabric Inspection Software caps each defect at 4 points and each linear yard at 4 points, as ASTM D5430 requires, and scores running defects such as needle lines at 4 points for every yard they continue. Inspectors never apply the rules by hand.

Can it record shade, GSM and shrinkage too?

Yes. Fabric Inspection Software records shade group (visual or spectrophotometer ΔE), GSM against target and tolerance, and wash shrinkage in warp and weft as tests on the roll, next to its width and length. They print on the buyer report below the 4-point result and are never converted into points. Skew, bow and length-shortage fields are planned.

Inspect the first roll the same day

We load your defect master, buyer limits and report layout, then train your inspectors on the floor in Tirupur, Surat or Ludhiana, or over a video call. 14-day pilot, no card. Plans start at ₹4,999 a month with unlimited rolls, and every result follows the ASTM D5430 4-point rules and your buyer's own limit.
